Vacation not Complete Without Music
The snow has all melted, the birds have left the nest and are populating backyards and bird feeders across the country. Cantaloupes and tomatoes are getting plumper with each day, and the days are getting longer (if you're reading this before June 21). What does it all mean? Summer has arrived, and it's time for Summer vacations. That means taking some long car trips to a sweet relaxation/tourist spots. But long car trips are fun for the first hour or two, after that you need something to keep you going through the miles of endless Utah desert, or Alabama country side. The answer? Summertime new music releases.
If you are hitting the open road, music is one of the best things you can pack. There are several reasons why. You see, the road is a lonely place. Just listen to any song from the 1980s. Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, they will all tell you how lonely the road can be. Lucky for you, the road is the perfect place to get to know your favorite album. Pop that cd in, and start singing with everything you have. Who cares if you're off key? It's just you and wind in your hair, and the asphalt beneath your tires. Rock out to the classics, or to a new music release. It'll keep your mind sharp, and keep your poor stationary brain occupied.
Here is the number one way to enjoy music on your summer trip: make your own mix tape. That's right, take all the best songs of the moment, or all the best new songs you want to get to know better and put them on a disc or an mp3 playlist together. You can even use advanced audio editing software to give them an even more personal mix by blending them together like a DJ to have an unlimited flow of music. Start your mix-tape with happy uptempo songs, then transition to songs that take you away, that paint a picture of another place, and bring it on home with some classics to get your mind poppin and your adrenaline pumping. Design the soundtrack to your perfect vacation!
There's a reason music is a billion dollar industry. 1.) it's a perfectly legal mood enhancer/alterer, and 2.) because people connect with it. Music defines who you are, music defines your disposition in life. Music speaks for you when you don't know how to say it. Bring it with you and it'll be there like your best friend, a shoulder to cry on, or a crazy and wild 2 a.m. drive down Highway 66.
Here is a bonus way to get the most out of your summer by using music. Check out a local radio station to a city you plan on traveling to. Find out what their top 12 songs are, and buy the mp3s individually. Do this in the weeks leading up to the trip, and you can find yourself leaving on your vacation in your mind long before you actually arrive. And then, when you DO get there, the songs on the radio will remind you of home, while still being in a new and exciting place, striking a perfect balance.
