Ideas For Bridal Shower Themes
A bridal shower is held for the bride-to-be a month or two before her wedding. The bride is honored and showered with gifts that will be useful to her in her married life. Bridesmaids are usually responsible for organizing and running these events, which are traditionally all-female but can include men and women. Groups can range from a few close friends to over a hundred friends and relatives. These parties are most commonly held by those living in the United States, Canada and Australia. They usually feature bridal shower themes.
A theme can inject the party with fun and intrigue. Usually the theme will relate to the needs and interests of the bride. Gift themes and party themes might differ, such as combing kitchen gifts with a makeover party, or they might tie in together.
Kitchen shower
If the couple is going to moving out together for the first time, a pantry shower can be an excellent way of helping them to set up their new kitchen. Gift ideas might include groceries, spices, gift cards or kitchen utensils and appliances. Bridesmaids might set up a game where they collect samples of different kitchen ingredients in unlabeled glass jars or plastic Ziploc bags, and guests have to identify them. Another game you can play is ‘Apron Memory, ‘ where a number of kitchen utensils are pinned to the front of an apron. The bride walks around the room for a minute wearing the apron, and then guests have to try and remember all the items that were pinned to it.
PJ party
A classic favorite, where everyone turns up in their comfiest pajamas, bearing gifts of bathroom products, makeup and maybe some naughty PJ’s for the bride-to-be. Take turns to give out manicures, pedicures, relaxing massages and facials. Get everyone involved for a fun-filled girl’s night in!
The Makeover shower
Everybody, grab out your makeup supplies and help paint the bride’s face! Take plenty of pictures, because you are going to get some funny results while you test out different colors to wear on the wedding day. For the best advice, you might like to bring in an Avon consultant to give some expert tips.
The Alphabet theme
If you have around 26 guests, you can do some fun things by assigning each of them a letter of the alphabet. Ask them to shop around and find a gift that starts with the letter you have given them. At the party, ask all your guests to name an attribute of marriage that starts with that letter. See what they come up with for letters like Z or Q!
Best memories
This is a really sweet one. Guests each bring a memento or gift that reminds them of a special memory shared with the bride-to-be. Another great idea is to ask all your guests ahead of time to make a scrapbook page of treasured memories that can be assembled and presented at the bridal shower. It is an excellent way to get guests talking.
