Hip Hop Radio Favorites
Hip hop began in the Bronx, New York, as a result of the creative work of Latino,Caribbean, and African American artists in the 1970′s. This music genre is made up of sampling, rapping, beat boxing and scratching.
Prior to the 1980′s hip hop did not enjoy any popularity outside of the United States. Beginning in the 1980′s, its began having influence outside of North America. Currently, hip hop is popular on all seven continents. Remember, all of this music can be found on internet radio.
The effect of hip hop can now be detected in various different music genres. We have chosen five songs that are stand out sound tracks on the “Mix and Hitz” station play lists.
“California Gurls” which is performed by Katy Perry. This song was made by Katy along with the famous hip hop recording star, Snoop Dogg. Within this song you can hear 1980′s guitar beats along with lyrics with a summer theme.
“Imma Be” by the Black Eyed Peas. This song by the Black Eyed Peas starts with a moderate tempo linked to urban beats, then somewhere in the middle of the song, it turns into a dance track of the fully loaded funk house type. It also boasts a music video that is a mix-up of Imma Be and another song, Rock That Body.
“Your Love Is My Drug” by Kesha. This song by Kesha is a track in her debut album called ‘January’. Its soundtrack is a throw back to the 1980′s with a chorus line that speaks of adolescent love. This track is spontaneous, informal, and lively with auto tuned vocals. You can obtain this music on internet radio. .
“Airplanes” by “B.o.B.” This song is by B.o.B, featuring Hayley Williams. This song has a great clapping back beat and a piano melody as a complement. The song track is one of several from B.o.B’s debut album entitled ‘B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray’.
“Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum. This is a well performed ballad by Lady Antebellum about a yearning for friendship. By November, 2009 it hit number 1 on the Country Charts and then migrated to pop radio. In recreating the 2010 version, which is a pop mix, the country guitar that was used previously was substituted with an electric guitar. Very delicate, but then it has the magic.
“Telephone”, a song by Lady Gaga, she first showcased this amazing song in ‘The Fame Monster’, prior to its January 26th release. This is a club song, despite the fact that a harp was used in this top song, this song contains rapping performed by Beyonce Knowles. This song was first written for Britney Spears, but was brilliantly performed with stellar results by Lady Gaga subsequent to Spear’s record
